Well, our latest top grant picks for June will help you propel your ideas to the next level. Hot opportunities this month include a range of funding that help to support infrastructure, communities, skills development and not-for-profit organisations.

Capacity Building Grants

The Helen Macpherson Smith Trust’s Capacity Building Grants are now available. This opportunity aims to fund projects that will develop and strengthen skills, processes and resources required by organisations to deliver their mission and ensure future success. Funding is suited to projects that require critical early support to incubate initiatives and address community needs.

Organisations applying for Capacity Building Grants must be registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). This funding opportunity has four rounds per year, for between $20,000 to $50,000.

Australia Post Community Grants Program

The 2021 Australia Post Community Grants Program is now open. This opportunity provides grants of up to $10,000 to eligible community-led, local projects that connect individuals and communities to improve mental health and wellbeing. Australia Post recognises that when people in communities connect, they feel better and it improves their wellbeing.

Collaborations and partnerships among different types of organisations are encouraged, however, auspice arrangements are not accepted. Projects will need to commence after 1 October 2021 and be completed no later than 30 September 2022.

Safer Communities Fund

Support your community with local crime prevention activities. Grants from $200,000 to $1.5 million are available. This funding round targets organisations with experience in providing early intervention activities to youth to prevent them from engaging in criminal activity or anti-social behaviour.

Objectives of this grant opportunity are to contribute to the preservation of the safety of Australians and help marginalised youth aged 12-24 with educational and vocational skills. Eligible activities must relate to the project and involve youth engagement activities aimed at crime prevention.

Community Social Enterprise Development Grants Program

The program aims to assist organisations to grow existing social enterprises and expand skills development and employment opportunities for disadvantaged Queenslanders. Grants up to $20,000 aim to provide funding for activities that will build organisational capacity and sustainability of the social enterprise.

Funding is available for the purchase of equipment, consumables, resources, materials, business support, website development and upgrades and marketing strategies. Queensland non-profit, community-based organisations, who have operated as a social enterprise for a minimum of two years, are encouraged to apply.
