Supports Australian content makers to produce narrative projects for online/direct-to-audience, television and theatrical feature film platforms. This program consolidates Screen Australia's former feature film, drama, children's television, and online production programs into a single, streamlined pathway.

• Direct-to-Audience Production (including VR, XR, AR and social media platforms)
• Children's Television Production
• Television Production (including SVOD or BVOD)
• Feature Film Production — Creative First (budgets up to $5,000,000)

• Incorporated Australian company with ABN, registered for GST

Note: Funding is generally provided as a grant if direct funding is at or below $500,000, or as a recoupable equity investment if over $500,000.

Documentary Australia Fiscal Sponsorship

Provider: Documentary Australia Foundation

Grants fiscal sponsorship to independent documentary filmmakers with a quality social impact project. Through this arrangement, approved projects can access the Foundation's Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status to seek philanthropic grants and tax-deductible donations — a significant pathway for filmmakers who don't hold DGR status themselves.

Play Award

Provider: Sydney Opera House

Offers an annual award for a primary school, learning program, class, or individual student or teacher that has made a remarkable and ongoing contribution to 'play in learning' with demonstrated positive impact on the school community. Presented in partnership with renowned educator Professor Pasi Sahlberg, the award runs annually from 2024 to 2027 inclusive.

Protostars Grants

Provider: Blackbird Foundation

Location: National (Australia and New Zealand)

A microgrant program supporting young people aged 18–25 in Australia and New Zealand to bring their passion projects to life. Projects can be anything — from theatre shows and films to video games, robots, underground zines, community gardens, apps and more. The more ambitious and creative, the better.

What's included:

• $1,000 grant (no co-contribution required)
• 8-week cohort program with like-minded creators
• Weekly catch-ups, guest speakers, and virtual or IRL coworking sessions
• IRL dinner during the cohort and a showcase at program end
• Ongoing access to the wider Protostars community, including exclusive funding, networking and social events

• Aged 18–25 years old
• Based in Australia or New Zealand
