Women & Change Grant

Provider: Women and Change

Location: Queensland

Provides large philanthropic grants to registered charities supporting vulnerable Queenslanders, with a strong focus on innovative projects that don't yet qualify for government funding.

In 2026, Women & Change are particularly motivated to fund organisations working with underserved communities, remote locations, or emerging issues — those doing something different with the ability to deliver measurable, long-term impact.

Eligibility highlights:

• Must hold both DGR1 and Tax Concessional Charity (TCC) status
• Operating for at least two years as at 1 June 2026, with financial records on the ACNC register
• Projects must be Queensland-based, primarily benefiting Queenslanders experiencing disadvantage
• Two-stage process: Expression of Interest (closes 17 July 2026), then full application by invitation (closes 11 September 2026)

What they fund:

• Operational, infrastructure, or capacity-building support
• Projects trying something new — not replacing existing funding sources
• Organisations with the ability to deliver impact where $50,000 would make a tangible difference

Women's Career Grants

Provider: Women's Career Grants
Amount: Up to $4,999
Applications close: 30 June 2026
Location: Queensland only

Supports Queensland women who are ready to re-enter the workforce after a break of six months or more, covering the practical costs of making that transition.

Eligibility highlights:

• Women aged 18+ who are Queensland residents
• Unemployed for six months or more and ready to re-enter the workforce
• Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or temporary resident with appropriate visa and work permits
• Must not have previously received funding from this program

Eligible expenses include:

• Workwear and uniforms (office attire, steel cap boots, PPE)
• Technology (computer/laptop, software, assistive technology)
• Childcare fees (registered childcare, family day care, before/after school care)
• Recertification and training (accredited training, professional development, licences, textbooks)
• Job readiness assistance (CV writing, interview preparation, job searching)
• Relocation costs within Queensland (removalists, bond clean)

Community Grant Program — Community Spirit Grants

Provider: QCoal Foundation
Amount: Up to $2,000
Applications close: 31 August 2026
Location: Queensland (regional and remote focus)

Encourages community-led initiatives to improve liveability, health and education in regional and remote Queensland communities through short-term or one-off projects that reflect the spirit and aspirations of the community.

Priority areas:

• Liveability: improving the general liveability of regional and remote communities
• Health: improving access to health services in regional and remote areas
• Education: supporting access to education and pathways to employment

Eligibility highlights:

• Not-for-profit organisations (DGR status preferred)
• Projects located in regional and remote Queensland
• Short-term or one-off projects (as opposed to ongoing programs)
• Note: Community Growth Grants of up to $15,000 are also available annually for larger-scale projects

Trauma Care in Regional, Rural and Remote Queensland

Provider: Emergency Medicine Foundation
Amount: Unspecified
Applications close: 6 July 2026
Location: Queensland

Aims to empower frontline clinicians in regional, rural and remote Queensland to improve the management of trauma patients — particularly road trauma — through research and evidence-based practice.

The program offers:

• Research scholarships for clinicians without prior research experience to attend university training in emergency healthcare research
• Mentoring support for clinicians new to research, from application through to project completion
• Research grants for short to medium-term projects addressing emergency trauma care in regional settings

Who can apply:

• Health and education organisations, non-government organisations, and individuals
• Clinicians based in or working in regional, rural and remote Queensland
• Both experienced researchers and those with no prior research experience are encouraged to apply

Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Grant Scheme

Provider: Queensland Government
Amount: Up to $55,000
Applications close: 30 June 2026
Location: Queensland only

Provides funding to Queensland taxi licence holders or lessees to acquire a new wheelchair accessible taxi, helping to modernise and reduce the average age of the operational wheelchair accessible taxi fleet across the state.

What's funded:

• Purchase of a new wheelchair accessible taxi
• Purchase and installation of eligible modifications, including reconfiguration of seating

Key details:

• Grant covers 50% of the cost, up to a maximum of $55,000
• Applicants must be the holder or lessee of a taxi service licence and registered for GST
• One grant available per taxi service licence
• Co-contribution required

Additional Grant Opportunities

Queensland Arts Project Fund

Provides one-off grants of up to $160,000 for Queensland-based individuals, arts companies, groups and organisations to develop and present new creative work. Includes a general stream (up to $70,000), an individuals stream (up to $20,000), and two-year project grants (up to $150,000 with matched funding).

Grant Writing Tips for Success

1. Tailor Your Application to Queensland's Priorities

Queensland has a strong focus on regional and remote communities, innovation, and supporting disadvantaged Queenslanders. Where relevant, emphasise your local context, the geographic challenges your community faces, and how your project addresses a gap that government funding doesn't yet cover.

2. Demonstrate Clear Outcomes and Impact

Be specific about the change your project will create. Use data and local evidence to support your case, and articulate both short-term outputs (what you'll deliver) and longer-term outcomes (what will be different as a result). Funders like Women & Change specifically look for measurable impact.

3. Understand DGR Requirements Early

Many Queensland grants — particularly philanthropic ones — require DGR1 and/or Tax Concessional Charity status. Check your organisation's eligibility before investing time in an application, and consider auspicing arrangements if your organisation doesn't yet hold DGR status.

4. Present a Realistic and Detailed Budget

Ensure your budget reflects the true cost of delivering quality programs or initiatives. Clearly show how grant funds will be used and include any co-contributions or in-kind support. For grants requiring co-contribution (such as the Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Scheme), demonstrate your ability to meet the matched funding requirement.

5. Plan for Sustainability

Outline how your initiative will continue beyond the grant period wherever possible. Queensland funders — especially community foundations — want to see that their investment will create lasting change, not simply plug a short-term gap. If the grant will serve as a catalyst for longer-term sustainability, highlight this approach clearly.
