Indigenous Grants

Australia is part of one of the oldest living cultures. In the vast tapestry of Australia's cultural landscape, the rich and diverse traditions of our Aboriginal and Indigenous communities are woven with threads of resilience, wisdom and heritage.

At The Grants Hub, we acknowledge the traditional lands on which our team work, stretching from Gubbi Gubbi and Jagera to Bundjalung, Woiwurrung and Boon Wurrung country, with many other traditional lands. If you’re unfamiliar with the traditional custodians where you live or work, you can learn more at the AIATSIS website.

Types of Indigenous Grants

There are many grants available for Indigenous communities in Australia, provided by both government and non-government organisations. These grants are designed to support Indigenous peoples in a range of areas including, but not limited to:

  • Cultural preservation
  • Education and training
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Community infrastructure
  • Environment
  • Economic development
  • Cultural festivals and events
  • Youth and family support
  • Land rights and native titles
  • Technology

Indigenous Advancement Strategy

One example is the Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) which is a funding grants program administered by the Australian government. The IAS provides funding to Indigenous organisations and groups to support the delivery of services and activities that improve the social and economic circumstances of Indigenous Australians. The funding can be used for a wide range of activities including health, education, housing, and economic development.
