I launched The Grants Hub in 2013, after seeing a clear need for an easier way to find grants in Australia.

At the time, I was just doing my thing. But since then, I’ve realised that part of the interest in The Grants Hub’s story is that I launched it not only as a woman (female tech founders were even rarer back then than they are now), but also as a 39-week pregnant woman and mum of an almost 2-year-old.

Yet while The Grants Hub might be a female-founded business, I want to make it clear that it has only grown to where it is today because of the dedicated team behind it. A team of women and men. We’re a bunch of passionate, hard-working and committed people aiming to provide an excellent, meaningful service. We strive to do our best in everything we do.

As the Founder, I could only do what I did because of an incredibly supportive husband and network of family and friends around me.

Unfortunately, not every woman has this network around them to thrive. Many have the opposite, and have had to flee damaging situations where their partner has been working against them. Not only have they been hurt physically, emotionally and financially, but their ability to thrive has been taken away from them.

Our Australian statistics are appalling:

  • In 2016-2017, on average 12 women a day were hospitalised for assault injuries due to domestic and family violence

  • In 2017-2018, about 72,500 women and 41,600 children sought specialist homelessness services due to family or domestic violence

  • 1 in 4 women have experienced at least one incident of violence by a male intimate partner

  • And nearly one woman every week is killed by a current or former partner.

This International Women’s Day, we’re running a sale to raise awareness and support for women impacted by domestic violence, by donating 15% of membership sales to the Crossway LifeCare Women’s Centre.

The Centre is specifically focused on supporting women and children who have experienced family violence, by creating a safe space where women can share their stories, feel heard and validated, and be empowered to move through the trauma they have experienced.

In the last year alone, LifeCare has supported:

  • 34 women through their family violence support program

  • 82 women through their financial care program

  • 56 females through their mentoring program

  • Women with more than 330 food hampers

  • Hundreds of women through counselling and psychology services.

LifeCare is an organisation working hard to make a big difference in women’s lives; they aim to see all women and children living free, whole and flourishing lives.

Sales generate a buzz at The Grants Hub, but this sale is more important than ever. Not only will you save on a membership, but you will be directly contributing to the LifeCare Women’s Centre.

What better action could you take on International Women’s Day? This is your chance to help women do great things.
