This new program provides funding to eligible services to improve their facilities, making them safer for staff, patients and visitors.

The Health Service Violence Prevention Fund will be rolled out over the next four years, and includes $10 million in grants for hospitals and health services, and $10 million for mental health services.

Under the first round of funding, $3 million is available in 2015-16 for eligible services to improve their facilities, making them safer for staff, patients and visitors.

Grants to support minor capital works will help health services respond to violence, security and safety risks identified through a risk assessment. Funding could be used to provide personal security devices or to install security cameras, modify rooms or create separate families’ and children’s waiting rooms.

Applications close 22 October 2015, so get started straight away.
