Here are tips on using key words to search and the recommendations we make most often
We speak to grant seekers every day. While every grant search is unique to the individual or organisation, we see common and popular themes.
The Grants Directory has many useful features to help you filter your search. One of these is the key word field that enables you to search by specific terms.
Using the key word search
- Use only words and terms to search. Funding Providers use broad and inclusive language, and they talk about objectives more than sample expenditure items. For example, you may not find many results for a word like toys, but there are lots of opportunities for children and wellbeing.
- Do an exact search by using quotation marks around a word or phrase. For example, "mental health" will display results that include the specific phrase mental health.
- Exclude specific words or phrases by using a dash. For example, -research will exclude the word research in your search results. Or, -"medical research" will exclude the phrase medical research.
- Combine search terms, exact phrases, and exclude words - all at the same time. For example, community -"medical research" will search for grants that include the word community but do not include medical research.
