Calling funding bodies

If there is a phone number available, call the funding body before submitting an application.  They will often give you an idea of whether your project is eligible or not - very helpful knowledge before you spend hours preparing an application.

A phone call also gives you the chance to ask for clarification on any questions you're not sure how to answer.  If you're lucky, they may even let you know which questions will be weighed most heavily during the assessment process.
